In the early 1980’s, Ray Burgess had a vision. Buy a piece of property, use it as a sandpit and then build homes around the lakes created by removing the sand. His vision became a reality and in 1998 the Burgess family opened The Lakes Manufactured Home Community.
The Burgess family worked hard to build a quality community in Kimball Township. Don Westphal Associates did the entire design of the community. Suburban Home Sales provided on site home ordering and home sale services. The team of the Burgess family, Westphal and Suburban, created a housing community that was named Best New Community in 2000 for its size and region.
The Burgess family has lived in the Port Huron (St. Clair County) area for over a century. They have owned and operated businesses, other than The Lakes, in St. Clair County for over 50 years. So they take special pride in caring for The Lakes and the many wonderful residents who currently reside in the community.
We are optimistic that if you would visit The Lakes and see the splendid Community Center, adjacent pool, and tour the property; you will want to live in this beautiful community.
